Wind Turbines And Solar Power May Hold More Promise Than Previously Thought.
The previous decade has been one for the record books, and one in which humanity has had to come to terms with the fact that it is unable to continue its present lifestyle. As a society, we have begun to realize that dependence on fossil fuels is not merely an American problem, but a global problem. It is fortunate that modern science has had the foresight to anticipate these problems, and is currently looking ahead to options for solving our current energy crisis that also help us to coexist in harmony with the planet we live on. While none of the alternative fuel sources available today will be able to completely satisfy our energy needs, using combinations of each of them may help to buy time until a more permanent solution can be found.

One such solution is wind turbine power. There’s nothing new about powering machines using the energy of wind, and windmills have been used to help produce food, as well as for other purposes, for centuries now. What’s different is the scale on which they are now being used. In flat areas where wind is abundant, wind turbines have been placed by the hundreds in order to catch some of the unharnessed power of mother nature. The biggest downside is that it will take decades for there to be enough of these wind harvesting systems in place around the globe for the energy that is produced from them to be able to fill a significant portion of our demand. However, the concept is sound.

Many private homeowners have sought ways to make their own houses more energy-efficient. With a little research, and some home improvements skills, some have settled on low cost solar panels to help ease the discomfort of their monthly electric bill. These devices are no longer an advent of the rich, and with modern manufacturing costs going down, it’s possible to install a solar panel for less money than you may think. Obviously, there are inherent issues with using this as a primary source of power as well, such as their ineffectiveness during rainstorms or cloudy weather. Despite this, they are a legitimate form of alternative energy that represents a very worthwhile investment. If so much as a quarter of the American public satisfied their daytime energy needs using low cost solar panels in their homes, the energy crisis would be solved.

Making your own solar panels for less
This is the 21st Century! We have so many technological advances… we can communicate with anyone in the world, fly from one end of the globe to the other in less than a day, we’re even able to listen to music for less than a buck and download it into a portable device no bigger than your hand, so why do we still derive our energy from fossil fuels? That is so 20th Century! But solar panels are so expensive. Or are they? You can make your own low cost solar panel and generator for about $300 and power some of your favorite electric items using renewable energy!

First, you want to look for a panel that is 12 volts or higher. Most RV shops and marinas can sell you a 16 volt for under $100. Or you can build your own check it out at Earth4Energy..

Second, You want to get a battery. No, not the 9 volt or even the type in your car. you want a small and rechargeable battery. Get a 12-volt lead – acid – battery, you can usually get these for about $50 – $60 online.

Next, for safety reasons, you’ll want to buy a battery box. This is especially a good idea if you have kids around. Low cost solar panels won’t do you good if you don’t have it protected.

After that, buy a DC Meter that’s 12 volts ($25 at electronics stores) and a DC Input (car parts store — $10). These will allow you to take the energy from the panel and use them for your DC appliances. Note that you will NOT be able to use AC appliances until you buy an inverter. Inverters will convert your DC energy into AC energy so you can power them (most hardware stores will have these starting at $50). Take an estimate as to how much energy you will be using and remember that the wattage of the inverter must be greater than the wattage you’re going to use.

Now use a drill to attach the DC Meter and Input to the box, and use insulated wire to attach the meter to the battery. Only handle one wire at a time, and ALWAYS CONNECT TO THE NEGATIVE (-) SIDE FIRST! No point getting a low cost solar panel if you get electrocuted in the process. Now connect the DC Inlet to the battery, then connect the solar panel to the battery. Actually there is no chance of getting electrocuted the potential health hazard is rapid heating of the wires if shorted also you want to keep sparks and open flames away from led-acid batteries as they produce hydrogen when charged or discharged.

That’s it! Close the lid, seal it tight (bungee cords are recommended) and let your generator sit in the sun for 8 hours. Congratulations! You’ve got yourself a working solar panel and it will power your low wattage devices and save you money every month on electricity. Isn’t that cool? George Jetson would be proud of you.

Low Cost Solar and Wind Power
Solar energy is one of the ways we can reduce our dependence on forien oil. We spend billions a month on forien oil, when we could be investing in solar energy. In the 1970′s the U.S. invested in research to develop solar energy. This was because of the oil embargo, it fell by the wayside when the price of oil came back down. Now we can say for sure we need to make the change to solar energy soon. Oil isn’t cheap, and we are going to run out. The good thing is that solar power has become cheaper to produce in recent times, in fact you can build your own solar power system for your home at a fraction of the cost of what it was just a few years back.
If you have looked into solar energy for your home and thought it was to expensive, well here is some more good news, you can significantly reduce that cost. A Typical solar system can cost in average of $27,000 dollars, but now there is a way to reduce the upfront cost, and save you money. You can build your own solar panels, or even a whole solar array. With this step by step do-it-yourself guide, you can build you own 60-120 watt solar panel for under $200.00 dollars, when the cost of the retail stores solar panels can cost you as much as $1100.00 dollars.
What the manufactures want you to think is that it is way to complicated for the average home owner to build their own solar panels. Nothing could be further from the truth. Now there is a step-by-step guide that has easy to follow instructions. With this new guide, you will be able to make a professional looking 60 to 120 watt solar panel for less than $200.00 dollars. At that price you could build a five panel solar array for the same price as one retail solar panel.
You don’t need any special skills, or be a master builder to make you own solar panels. This step-by-step guide will take you from start to finish in an easy to follow format. If you run into a problem, no problem, customer support is just an e-mail away. Not only that, as an added bonus you will get a step-by step guide on how to build your own professional wind turbine. This guide is packed full of all the information you need to build your own wind turbine. A wind turbine that can make electricity day or night, or to supplement your solar system, over periods of cloudy days.
Now you can start saving money on your electric bill, and start to reduce our dependence on oil, and at the same time help to stop global warming.
